Jordan does not have an agenda for anyone's birth. She has supported vaginal births after a cesarean (VBAC), epidural births, unmedicated births as well as cesarean births.
During Pregnancy:
· Introductory consultation
· One or more prenatal visits in your home
· In-depth discussion of birth preferences
· Help developing a birth plan
· Ongoing telephone contact
· Referrals and resources for pregnancy-related issues
* Option to meet with care provider or attend a prenatal appointment with family prior to birth, if desired by family
During Labor:
· Support for the laboring family at home
· Continuous care through hospital shift changes
· Emotional support and reassurance, an advocate for your birth
· Comforting touch, counter pressure, and massage
· Relaxation and visualization
· Explanation of obstetrical terms and procedures which can help to 'slow down' the changing experience so parents have time to absorb what the care providers are asking of them
· Effective positions for labor and birth
* Photography and / or videography (as previously agreed upon during prenatal meeting with family)
After the Birth:
· Continued support for the birthing family immediately after birth
· Assistance with initial breastfeeding
· Post-partum visit in your home
· Extensive information and referrals regarding newborn care, breastfeeding, and parenting.
Birth Therapy – belly casting, drawings, paintings – you name it! Mother and partners anticipating the birth are asked to explore the journey of birth through art therapy. The techniques used can help identify and repair negative feelings or fears that may be associated with the event so that families can move through the birth experience reassured and supported. Creativity is not a requirement. J
Doula Coaching – offers the preparatory worksheets, a one session informational meeting, and a demonstration of some of the popular doula comfort measure techniques. This is a great supplement to any childbirth education class! (Should you decide to hire me as your doula after the class, the cost will count toward the regular doula fee)
